About the workshop:

The Association „Forgotten children of war” advocates for legal and social recognition of children born of war. Through their work through activism, art, research and public advocacy they work on preventing the use of rape as a war weapon. The Association fights for an equal society in which stigmatization and discrimination are not a part of everyday life, trying to build a society without patriarchal norms, a society with zero tolerance for violence. Through its work, the Association is creating a society which fully respects human rights, one in which human rights are the basic foundation for the functioning of society as well as the country itself. Through our work we are trying to completely stop the use of rape as a war weapon, but we also we are working on developing a program that completely stops the violence on women, especially rape as a form of violence against women in wartime as well as in peaceful conditions.

About the trainer: Ajna Jusic

Ajna Jusić, 27 years old, is the President of the Forgotten Children of War Association, a psychologist and a feminist from Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina. During and immediately after the war, with the raise and strengthening of militarization, all over the world „children born of war” were being born. Those children were less likely to be born had it been for wars in certain regions where their fathers were deployed or stationed due to military or humanitarian duties. Where B&H is concerned, this category includes children whose fathers were: a) soldiers belonging to the opposing army, i.e. other ethno-national group in relation to the mother of the child (parents are from previously conflicted sides, so called hostile parties); b) members of stationary /peacekeeping forces (UNPROFOR, IFOR, SFOR, etc.); or c) employees of foreign humanitarian missions, and the mothers were local women.
