About the workshop:

Education is often a very overlooked field when it comes to the topic of sustainability. Sustainable consumption, sustainable energy, etc. are easy to name but what is sustainable education? And why is it so vital if we want to achieve a sustainable lifestyle? We will look at our education system as it is, identify problems and think about what changes need to be done in the spirit of sustainability. We will also explore the role of youth participation in this process and the huge importance of it. And finally, along the lines, we will learn what the youpaN’s stake is in the matter.

About the trainer: Nicolas Klasen

I am 20 years old and currently study law at the university of Jena. I am part of the youpaN since December of 2018 and represent it in the ESD expert panel on early childhood education. Apart from that I do a lot of work for the youpaN in international cooperation and political lobbying. The youpaN was constituted in 2017 and is the official youth participation body in the national process to implement education for sustainable development (ESD) in Germany. It consists of 25 young delegates which work in the formal structures of the process but also do lobbying in the fields of ESD and youth participation.
