Introducing Solidarity Action Day in Spain

19.- 21.8.2025

From 19 to 21 August 2025, SAME took part in the CANAE Summer Camp in Spain through a workshop led by SAME Board Member Rreze Ejupi. Around 60 participants from CANAE’s wider network gathered in a dynamic setting that brought together students, federation representatives, and members of the international working group. The diversity of the group created a strong basis for discussion and made it possible to reflect on the Solidarity Action Day model from different regional and organisational perspectives within the Spanish student movement. The workshop introduced SAME’s mission and presented the Solidarity Action Day as a practical model for youth participation, community involvement, and student-led initiatives. Through presentation, open discussion, and debate, participants explored both the potential of the model and the questions it raises in the Spanish context. The main output of the session was a structured introduction of the SAD concept to a broader CANAE audience. The main outcomes were increased awareness of the model, stronger interest among key actors within CANAE, and a clearer internal discussion on whether and how the initiative could move forward within the organisation. One of the most important results of the visit was that the conversation did not end with the workshop itself. The exchange opened the way for the Solidarity Action Day proposal to be brought to CANAE’s General Assembly, turning the session into both an awareness-raising moment and a concrete step toward possible future implementation.
