Guerilla knitting or urban knitting is a kind of street art, where things in the public space are covered or changed through knitting. Therefor knitted pieces are placed somewhere or even whole furniture is being covered with knitting. The pieces can either be just pretty or have a symbolic meaning, like feminist messages.
The artists themselves call their art “soft graffiti”. The image of the city is not changed permanently, because the art can also be removed easily again.
In our workshop we want to work on a piece in the context of guerilla knitting. Therefor the level of knitting of each participant is being considered, so if you are just interested in knitting, we can also just give you instructions for beginning.
