From 6 to 8 April 2025, the newly elected SAME Board met in Lübeck, Germany, for its Board Handover meeting. Bringing together Board members, the Council Coordinator, the SAME Office, and a former Board member, the meeting marked the starting point of a new governance cycle and created space to reflect on the network’s current challenges, priorities, and ways of working together.
A central focus of the handover was role clarification and internal organisation. The Board reviewed the governance structure of SAME, discussed the relationship between the Board, Council, and Office, and agreed on communication routines, coordination points, and meeting formats for the year ahead. One key output of the meeting was the clear division of working fields within the Board, including strategic planning, outreach and Solidarity Action Day, programme and education, internal relations, and communication. Another important output was the agreement on teamwork principles, internal coordination rhythms, and first planning steps for the annual work cycle.
The meeting also created space to reflect on the wider direction of the network. Discussions touched on member engagement, expansion, alumni relations, cooperation with SHL, and the need to strengthen continuity and ownership across SAME structures. The main outcome of the handover was that the new Board left with a clearer understanding of its responsibilities, stronger alignment on priorities, and a shared basis for working together more strategically and consistently in the coming period.
