SAME Visit to Denmark’s Solidarity Action Day

19. - 20.11.2025

On 19 and 20 November 2025, the SAME Council Coordinator and a SAME Volunteer visited OD Denmark in Copenhagen as part of a wider series of exchanges with SAME member organisations in Scandinavia. The visit focused on understanding how Solidarity Action Day is implemented in Denmark and on exploring how cooperation within the network can be strengthened further. A central part of the visit was the opportunity to experience Denmark’s Solidarity Action Day first-hand and to attend the celebration event that followed. There, SAME representatives met members of the Board, young participants who had taken part in the Solidarity Action Day, and former and current volunteers involved in the organisation’s voluntary service. This gave direct insight into how the initiative is implemented in practice, how it is experienced by young people, and which social issues, priorities, and challenges are most visible in the Danish context. Alongside this, the visit created space for exchange on OD Denmark’s role within the SAME Network and on how cooperation with SAME and other member organisations could be developed further. It also opened discussion on how OD Denmark’s experience could contribute to supporting and mentoring newer organisations entering the network. The main output of the visit was a stronger understanding of how Solidarity Action Day functions in Denmark and how young people engage with it on the ground. The main outcome was renewed connection between SAME and OD Denmark, as well as a clearer basis for stronger collaboration, exchange, and mutual support within the network.
